# Enabling and Configuring the Spam Filter

||| ℹ️ **Note:** The spam filter on your hosting package is disabled by default to avoid issues with external email services such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

In this guide, replace `voorbeeld.cc` with your own domain name.

### Enabling the Spam Filter

1. Log in at `https://voorbeeld.cc:2222` (or log in via [Single Sign-On (SSO)](/en/article/logging-in-to-hosting-package-via-single-sign-on-sso-1biycbb/)).
2. Go to **E-mail Management**.
3. Click on **SpamAssassin Setup**.
4. Click the green button **ENABLE SPAMASSASSIN**.

The spam filter is now enabled.

### Properly Configuring the Spam Filter

1. Log in at `https://voorbeeld.cc:2222` (or log in via [Single Sign-On (SSO)](/en/article/logging-in-to-hosting-package-via-single-sign-on-sso-1biycbb/)).
2. Go to **E-mail Management**.
3. Click on **SpamAssassin Setup**.
4. Fill out the form:
   
* **Block Strategy:** choose **User Spambox** (or **Delete** if you want spam to be deleted immediately).
* **High Score Block:** choose **Yes**.
* **Global Threshold:** leave unchanged (default: 5.0).
* **Rewrite Subject:** change to **Yes**.
* **Spam Delivery:** leave unchanged ( **Use attachments**).

5. Finally, click **SAVE CONFIGURATION**.

Your spam filter is now correctly configured.  
Please note that it may take up to **5 days** for the spam filter to become fully effective.

||| ℹ️ **Note:**

If option 1 ("Where do you want spam to go?") is set to **Inbox (Do not block)**, spam messages will be filtered but still delivered.
