# Protect a Folder with a Password

### Password-protecting a folder

1. Log in to `https://voorbeeld.cc:2222` (or use [Single Sign-On (SSO)](/en/article/logging-in-to-hosting-package-via-single-sign-on-sso-1biycbb/)).
2. Under **Advanced Features**, click **Password Protected Directories**.
3. Click the **+ ADD PROTECTED DIRECTORY** button in the top right corner.
4. Fill out the form as follows:

* **Path:** choose the folder you want to protect.
* **Protected Directory Prompt:** enter the message that should appear above the login form.
* **Set/Update User:** enter the username to be used.
* **Password:** enter the password to be used.

5. Finally, click the **PROTECT** button.

The selected folder is now password-protected.

| 📌 **Note:**

Visit the folder URL in your browser to test if the password prompt appears. Log in using the username and password you set.
