# What are labels and how can I use them?

**Labels** are a convenient tool to make your domain names easier to search and organize.  
You can add an unlimited number of labels to a domain name. Examples include customer names or project names.

#### Possible uses:

* Group domain names belonging to a specific customer, e.g., **customername**.
* Mark domain names associated with a particular project, e.g., **projectname**.

### How to use labels:

* On the right-hand side of a domain’s page in **Mijn Xynta**, search using `label:labelname` (where **labelname** is your chosen label).
* You’ll immediately see an overview of all domain names tagged with that label.

Your labels will also appear below the search field in your domain overview. Clicking on a label will instantly filter the associated domain names.

### Important rules for labels:

* Labels can only contain letters and numbers (no symbols or spaces).
* Labels are automatically converted to lowercase when added.
