# What information do I need to transfer my domain name?

**The information required for a domain transfer differs per extension. For most extensions you'll need a **transfer code** (EPP code or authcode) from your current provider, and sometimes also an **unlock** or a modified **registrar tag**. Below you'll find exactly what you need per extension.**

### Overview of requirements

You may encounter the following requirements for a domain transfer. What you'll need exactly differs per extension (see the tables below).

* **Transfer code** — also known as the **EPP code** or **authcode**. Request this from your current provider.
* **Unlock** — many extensions (such as `.com`, `.net`, `.org`) have a **transfer lock** enabled by default. This must be disabled before the transfer can start. See [Locking or unlocking a domain name](https://help.xynta.com/en/article/locking-or-unlocking-a-domain-name-8to90s/).
* **Registrar tag** — for `.uk` variants you change a registrar tag instead of entering a transfer code.
* **Up-to-date holder details** — for some extensions (such as `.be` and `.eu`), the transfer is confirmed by email to the domain holder. Make sure the holder's email address is correct.

### European extensions

| Extension | Requirements | Notes |
| --------- | ------------ | ----- |
| `.nl` | Transfer code | No lock concept — no unlock needed. |
| `.be` | Transfer code | The code is **sent by email to the domain holder**. We cannot retrieve it for you. |
| `.eu` | Transfer code | The code is **sent by email to the domain holder**. We cannot retrieve it for you. |
| `.de` | Transfer code | **Network-separated nameservers** required — use for example our Managed DNS. |
| `.fr` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.es` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.it` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.at` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.ch` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.nu` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.cz` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.pl` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |
| `.se` | Transfer code | No lock concept. |

### gTLDs (global extensions)

These extensions require a transfer code and must be **unlocked** at your current provider before the transfer can start.

| `.info` | Transfer code + unlock |

| `.pro` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.name` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.xyz` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.online` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.shop` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.store` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.app` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.dev` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.blog` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.site` | Transfer code + unlock |
| `.tech` | Transfer code + unlock |

### United Kingdom (.uk variants)

`.uk` extensions follow a **different procedure**. Instead of a transfer code, you ask your current provider to change the **registrar tag**.

| `.co.uk` | Change registrar tag to **`KEY-SYSTEMS-DE`** — request with your current provider |
| `.uk` | Change registrar tag to **`KEY-SYSTEMS-DE`** |
| `.org.uk` | Change registrar tag to **`KEY-SYSTEMS-DE`** |
| `.me.uk` | Change registrar tag to **`KEY-SYSTEMS-DE`** |

||| Only change the registrar tag **after** you've placed the transfer order with xYnta. Changing the tag too early may cause the transfer to fail.
