Using Our Free Migration Service

Switching to xYnta? We'll migrate your website, database and email free of charge — often within one business day. You provide the details, we take care of the rest.

This article applies to our Web, WordPress and Email Hosting plans. You'll find full details at xynta.com/en/hosting/migration.

How does the migration service work?

Migrating your website and email to xYnta takes three steps:

  1. Choose your hosting plan — pick the Web, WordPress or Email Hosting plan that fits your needs. Not sure which one suits you best? We're happy to advise you — no strings attached. Do not enter a transfer code for your domain name when ordering — you'll provide it later when requesting the migration service.
  2. Request the migration service — after ordering your plan, request the migration service at xynta.com/en/hosting/migration/request. You'll provide the information we need there, including the transfer code for your domain name.
  3. We'll handle the rest — we'll carefully migrate your website, database and email to your new plan. Your domain name is only transferred after a successful check.

Never enter your domain's transfer code when ordering your plan. Doing so triggers an immediate domain transfer right after payment — while we want to migrate and verify your website and email first. You only provide the transfer code through the migration request form, so we can transfer the domain at the right moment.

What information do we need from you?

Good preparation makes for a smooth migration. Make sure you have the following details ready before requesting the migration service — we can only start once everything is in place.

Hosting details from your current provider

  • The login credentials for the control panel at your current provider — such as Plesk, DirectAdmin, cPanel or a similar system.
  • The login credentials for your email accounts, if your email runs through your current provider and you'd like to migrate the contents.
  • Any custom DNS records you'd like to keep — such as email records (MX, SPF, DKIM), subdomain settings or connections to external services.

Domain name

  • Make sure your domain name isn't locked. Many providers place a registrar lock or transfer lock on a domain by default — you'll need to disable this via your current provider or registrar.
  • Request the transfer code (EPP code or authcode) from your current provider. You'll only provide the transfer code through the migration request form — not when ordering your plan.
  • Check that your domain holder details are up to date and correct. Some domain names require migration confirmation by email.

Website and email

  • Make sure your website is up to date — outdated versions of WordPress, themes or plugins can cause issues.
  • Check that your website works correctly at your current provider. We migrate the website as it is.
  • We migrate your website(s) and email address(es) once. A re-migration is not included.

You'll submit your details through the request page — your login credentials are transferred to us securely and encrypted.

Important points to keep in mind

  • We perform migrations on business days, Monday through Thursday — we don't schedule migrations on Fridays, so we can respond immediately if anything needs attention afterwards.
  • In most cases we complete the migration within one business day after we receive everything from you.
  • Your website remains accessible during the migration — we first migrate your data and only change the domain name after a successful check.
  • Please stay available to answer any questions during the migration.

Only cancel your plan with your current provider after you've verified that everything works correctly on your new plan. Any changes you make at your current provider afterwards will not be migrated.
